Juneteenth (a contraction of June and nineteenth) also known as Freedom Day, Jubilee Day, and Emancipation Day is a holiday celebrating the emancipation of those who had been enslaved in the United States. Commemorated on the anniversary date of June 19, 1865. Traditionally across the South Juneteenth was widely celebrated with community gatherings centering around food and festival.

Race starts at the concession area and takes you along the easy fitness trail of Rahway River Park. All registered participants will receive a shirt and chip timed number. Medals will be given at the finish line. Water and light snacks will be available at the finish line for participants. Walkers and runners of all skill level are welcomed. Go at your pace.

Covid Restrictions
When not running mask and social distancing is a must. Participants will start in small batches to avoid congestion. All water and snacks are individually packaged. Please wear a mask at check in snack pick up and when interacting when social distancing isn’t possible. If you are not feeling well stay home to keep everyone safe.

We Run the Culture started in 2020 with an idea to promote the benefits of walking and running to urban communities by hosting walks , 5K races, and fundraising events that always finish with a party vibe. We Run the Culture by setting trends in style , fashion, and music. Part of our mission here at We Run the Culture is to continue that trend into healthy living. First we run then we vibe.

A portion of the registration fee will always be given to a local charitable organization. The recipient from this event is Dollars 4 Homeless, a local non-profit organization that provides meals to the homeless population of Essex County.
