Proceeds from the race and any additional donations benefit PPB Rotary's efforts to help melanoma research and to aid various charities and community-based organizations and groups.

The 5K is named for Kevin A. Brue who lost a courageous battle with melanoma several years ago. His father, John Brue Sr., is an active Point Boro Rotarian and chairperson of the race committee.
