2009 Fear the Pier

May 9, 2009 Leonardo, NJ

More than 250 runners competed in Naval Weapons Station Earle’s ‘Fear the Pier’ 5K race Saturday, May 9.  Unfortunately, because of a timing computer failure, the overall finishing order and winners of individual age categories are unable to be determined.

Apology letters are being mailed this week to all participants.  Additionally, all participants will be allowed to compete in our fall 5K pier run free of charge.

The timing computer failed to read many of the chips used in Saturday’s race.  We are still unsure why this normally-reliable timing system failed.  Though individual bib numbers were manually recorded as a back-up, we are unable to match those numbers to the correct times as most of the data has been permanently lost.
